Curlin Pain Smart Recall

The law firm of Aylstock, Witkin, Kreis & Overholtz, PLLC is investigating Curlin Medical Inc.’s recent voluntary recall of its Painsmart pumps following five reports of over-infusion of medication. The company is urging consumers with the 2000 CMS, 4000 CMS, 6000 CMS and Painsmart models to immediately cease use if the product sustained impact and/or damage.

The ECRI Institute also issued a Critical Alert regarding Curlin Medical’s infusion pumps after discovering defects preventing the pumps from closing completely. This defect subjects the medication to gravity flow, increasing patients’ risk for over-infusion.

The Curlin Medical Painsmart pump is a pain management technology that administers PCA, PCEA and subcutaneous infusions through user-friendly software. It is intended to help patients and health care professionals administer and monitor pain medication with greater ease.

Victims who have sustained damage because of defects with Curlin Painsmart are entitled to receive compensation for their medical expenses and pain and suffering.
