Child Exploitation Directory

In 2018, the Maryland Attorney General’s Office launched a Grand Jury investigation into the Archdiocese of Baltimore. The investigation aimed to scrutinize criminal allegations of child sexual abuse involving clergy, seminarians, nuns, deacons, and employees of the Archdiocese.

The Office of the Attorney General also intended to shed light on the Catholic Church’s leadership’s efforts to conceal sexual abuse. As part of the investigation, the Grand Jury of Baltimore City issued subpoenas to the Archdiocese, individual parishes, religious orders, and St. Mary’s Seminary. In response to the subpoenas, hundreds of thousands of documents dating back to the 1940s were submitted. These submissions include personnel records, treatment reports, transfer reports, procedures, and policies.
