HILLARY NAPPI JOINS THE AWKO LEGAL NETWORK TO LEAD AWK SURVIVOR ADVOCATE ATTORNEYS IN NEW YORK
NEW YORK – The Aylstock, Witkin, Kreis & Overholtz Legal Network announced that Hillary M. Nappi, a nationally recognized advocate for survivors of sexual assault, has joined the Network to lead AWK Survivor Advocate Attorneys, the Network’s newly launched sexual assault practice group based in New York.
Hillary brings extensive experience in sexual assault and complex civil litigation, most recently serving as partner at a New York City boutique firm, where she has litigated hundreds of cases for survivors of sexual assault.
From day one, AWKO’s mission has been defined by seeking justice for those who need it most. There is no practice more central to that mission than representing victims of abuse. “Hillary’s addition represents our unwavering commitment to survivors of sexual abuse nationwide,” said Justin Witkin, founding partner of the AWKO Legal Network. “Her proven track record of securing justice for hundreds of sexual assault survivors aligns perfectly with our mission to hold powerful institutions accountable and ensure no survivor fights alone.”
In addition to her daily work representing survivors of sexual abuse and exploitation, Hillary has devoted time to pro bono advocacy, contributing to key amicus curiae briefs in high-profile cases. These include briefs filed by Child USA and RAINN in Doe v. Twitter, addressing Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act and the Trafficking Victims Protection Reauthorization Act; by Child USA and the Canadian Centre for Child Protection in Elden v. Nirvana, examining statute of limitations issues under Masha’s Law; and by Child USA in Bernard v. Cosby, which challenged the constitutionality of
New Jersey’s revival statute for abuse survivors. Hillary also filed an amicus brief in support of Blake Lively’s motion to dismiss the defamation countersuit brought against her by Justin Baldoni. The brief urged the court to uphold the constitutionality of California Civil Code §47.1, a provision designed to protect individuals who speak out about sexual misconduct
In addition to her pro bono commitments, Hillary is the Treasurer of the Board of Directors of Child USA and Secretary of the Board of Directors of the Children’s Justice Fund, where she has worked to advance each organization’s mission to protect children and promote justice through groundbreaking legal advocacy and research for the last five years. Hillary is equally devoted to the practice of law and to enhancing the legal profession in New York State and is both a Director at Large for the New York State Academy of Trial Lawyers and the Treasurer for the Columbian Lawyers Association of Westchester County.
Hillary earned her Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from Pace University and later received her J.D. from Pace University School of Law (now the Elisabeth Haub School of Law). Hillary remains active within the Pace Law community and proudly mentors law students.
