On April 5, 2023, the Maryland Attorney General’s report identified Father Louis John Affrica as involved in the abuse of minors. Before being ordained in 1975, Father Louis John Affrica served as a Holy Cross Brother for eleven years and taught high school in Massachusetts and Forestville, Maryland.

In 2005, allegations emerged of Father Louis John Affrica’s abuse of a young male, aged between 15 18, from 1973 to 1976. The reported abuse occurred at a parish rectory and during a weekend retreat, involving alcohol and marijuana.

A separate accusation surfaced in 2007, involving the abuse of a young female, approximately 15 or 16 years old, in the late 1970s. This incident also involved the consumption of alcohol. Both alleged victims reported that numerous youths frequently spent time with Father Louis John Affrica at the rectories.

Father Louis John Affrica took a leave of absence in 1981, later married, and became a licensed social worker. They requested laicization in 2016.
