Brother Thomas Tomasunas, a Capuchin Franciscan brother, was accused in 2008 of sexually abusing a man who was an altar boy at Saint Peter and Saint Paul in Cumberland starting in 1959, when the victim was 12 or 13 years old. The victim reported that after getting into trouble as an altar boy, Thomas Tomasunas began to fondle him, and then took him to the monastery and garden where he completely undressed him and performed oral sex on him multiple times. Tomasunas warned the victim not to tell anyone. All required reports were made, and the Archdiocese reached a $50,000 settlement with the victim in 2004. However, Tomasunas has not been listed as credibly accused by the Archdiocese.
