Multiple allegations of sexual abuse against a man Deacon Leo O’Hara, who was once a candidate for permanent Deacon in the Catholic Church. Various reports suggest that Leo O’Hara had a history of sexual abuse of young boys that dated back to at least the 1950s. In 1981, he resigned from the Permanent Diaconate Program, citing his “homosexual tendencies.”

He was investigated in 1987 for sexual assault of minors and later admitted to molesting more than 100 children since 1953. Despite this, he was not charged because the State’s Attorney’s Office could not identify any specific victims. Several individuals have come forward over the years with allegations of sexual abuse by O’Hara, but the Archdiocese has not listed him as credibly accused.
