Father Albert Julian was publicly identified as an accused individual in the MD Attorney General’s report released on April 5th, 2023. The report revealed that in 1968, the Archdiocese received a report that Father Julian had sexually abused a girl. Father Julian admitted to the abuse and was sent for treatment. He subsequently requested and was granted laicization in 1970, in order to marry.
In 2002, another woman reported to the Archdiocese that she had been abused by Father Julian in the early 1960s, beginning when she was in 8th or 9th grade and throughout her high school years. The victim reported that a girl who was a year younger than her was also abused by Father Julian, and it was that girl’s father who had contacted the diocese in 1968. Father Julian passed away in 2006.
