Father Benedict Mawn worked in the Archdioceses of Boston, Baltimore, Hartford, and Dioceses of Scranton, Buffalo, Worcester, and Manchester. He was accused of sexually abusing a boy at St. Gabriel’s in Brighton, MA, in 1976 in a 2005 lawsuit involving multiple plaintiffs and defendants. Father Benedict Mawn passed away in 1998. Attorney Durso stated in 2011 that nearly all claims were resolved. He was not included in the 2011 Boston AD database but was added to the Baltimore Archdiocese’s list of accused on 4/24/2019. Father Mawn was also accused of abuse in the mid-1950s and was assigned to St. Joseph Passionist Monastery in Baltimore from 1955 to 1957 and 1960 to 1962.
