A victim reported in October 2013 that he was sexually assaulted by Father David Leary around 1971 while he was in the fourth grade. The incident took place at the Shrine of the Little Flower, where the victim was practicing his reading for Mass with David Leary.
During the session, Leary pulled down the victim’s pants and touched his hips inappropriately. A summary compiled for the Archdiocese’s Independent Review Board, updated on December 5, 2013, stated that the victim was hesitant to provide further details to the Archdiocese. The Archdiocesan officials reported the abuse to the authorities as required by law.
