Father Dennis Pecore was convicted in 1987 of sexually assaulting a teenage boy over a three-year period. Father Dennis Pecore was placed on probation and ordered to serve a year in jail on a work-release program. He was convicted again in 1994 of molesting a second boy, his nephew, during work-release in 1989-1992 while working at a care center for elderly priests. He was sentenced to 12 years in prison and probation and is now on the sex offender registry.
He was laicized in 1995. In 2002, he was accused of abuse in Baltimore in 1975-1976 when he was a religious brother and was named in at least two civil suits. He was released from prison in February 2002 and included on the Baltimore archdiocese’s list of accused in September 2002. A new lawsuit was filed on October 6, 2016, against the Phoenix diocese, Salvatorians, and a parish where early 1980’s abuse of boy alleged.
