In 1992, an allegation of abuse dating back to 1960 was made against Father Edmund Stroup, which led to the removal of his faculties. By the time of the allegation, Stroup had already retired in 1990. Prior to this, he had faced accusations in 1975 and 1981, and in the latter year, he underwent residential therapy. From 1982 to 1990, he served as a hospital chaplain, and in 2001 he passed away.
In 2002, numerous complaints about Stroup were received, leading to his inclusion on the Archdiocese’s September 2002 list of accused individuals.
