Father Edward Heilman, who died in 1988, was publicly accused by the Archdiocese in June 2022. In 2014, he was accused of abusing an altar boy between the ages of 8 and 13 at the Shrine of the Little Flower in Baltimore in the 1970s.
At the time in question, Father Edward Heilman was a deacon. In 2022, a man reported that he was abused by Heilman for the first time when he was 13 or 14 years old at St. Mary’s Seminary in 1978 or 1979. The second incident was said to have occurred when Heilman was assigned to St. Mark’s sometime between 1979 and 1981. The man claimed that Father Ronald Mardaga was also involved in the abuse. This case was included in the MD Attorney General’s Report published on April 5, 2023.
