Fr. H. Cornell Bradley

Father H. Cornell Bradley

Order: SJ
Ordained: 1969
Status: Accused
Diocese: Archdiocese of Philadelphia PA

Father H. Cornell Bradley was removed from ministry in January 2006 after an allegation of sexual misconduct with an adult woman in the early 1980s in Baltimore. His name was released in January 2007 when the Order admitted to the misconduct. Another allegation involved a minor at Gonzaga College High School in Washington, DC, in 1973.

The first two allegations involving minors were made in 1993. Father H. Cornell Bradley was reported to have sexually abused two 15-year-old boys between 1968 and 1988. He was sent for treatment and returned to ministry by the Order in 1995. He was then assigned to St. Joseph University as a campus minister and basketball team chaplain until his removal from ministry in 2006.

Fr. Bradley also worked in North Carolina, Philadelphia, and India. As of March 2007, five more complaints had been received against him. He left the Order in 2007 and was added to the Jesuits’ MD Province list in December 2018.

In March 2019, a man filed a police report in Charlotte, NC, alleging that Fr. Bradley and Fr. Damian Lynch had both abused him as a teen in the 1990s. Fr. Bradley was added to the Baltimore Archdiocese’s list in February 2019 and the Charlotte Diocese’s list on December 29th, 2019. Finally, he was included in the Maryland Attorney General’s Report released on April 5th, 2023.
