In 1993, a boy accused Father James Toulas of sexual abuse that occurred in the 1960s and early 1970s. He was removed from his parish in East Baltimore and sent for treatment. Father Toulas admitted to the abuse, which happened when he was on a break from his missionary work in Brazil. He passed away in 2000, and his name was included in the Baltimore archdiocese’s list of accused released in September 2002.
