Father Jorge Velez-Lopez was a priest who worked in both Colombia and the United States. He was suspended from ministry by the Diocese of Alexandria in February 2016 following allegations of sexual misconduct with a minor female during the eight-year period when he was assigned to the Baltimore Archdiocese.
He left Baltimore in 2010. Father Velez-Lopez later admitted to the allegations, and he and the victim had a child together and later got married. His name appeared on the Alexandria diocese’s list on February 6, 2019 (spelled as “Valez-Lopez”). The case was sent to the Vatican, and his name was also added to Baltimore’s list, updated on July 23, 2019.
