Father Robert Hopkins was accused of sexually abusing two boys in the 1970s in 1995, after which he was sent to St. Luke Institute for treatment. Later, at least eight other victims came forward, and Father Hopkins admitted to sexually misconducting with around 14 boys from the 1950s to the early 1980s at five different parishes, including incidents of rape.
In August 1995, a man claimed that he was also abused by Hopkins in 1948 and provided the name of another victim. Consequently, Hopkins was removed from his faculties. He was identified as an abusive priest and named on Baltimore’s list on September 26, 2002. Hopkins passed away in December 2006. Recently, the Maryland Attorney General’s Report of April 5, 2023, included Father Robert Hopkins as a part of the report.
