Father Robert Lentz, who was in residence at Cardinal Gibbons High School from 1973 to 1974, served as the CYO director from 1973 to 1976, and directed the Youth Office from 1976 to 1978. He was placed on leave in December 2002 after two men accused him of sexually abusing them in the mid- to late-1960s.
Father Lentz denied the allegations, but the accusers came forward following the archdiocese’s publication of the names of 56 other priests and brothers accused of abuse. Father Lentz passed away on September 18, 2007, and was included on the archdiocese’s list of accused.
