According to the Baltimore archdiocese’s list dated September 25, 2002, Father Ross LaPorta was accused by one individual in 1999 of sexual abuse that allegedly occurred in the 1960s. As a result, his faculties were removed, and he denied the accusations. The list indicates that LaPorta had recently retired at the time of the allegation. The 1999 Official Catholic Directory reported him as retired and listed him as a monsignor.
However, subsequent directories show him as retired in Little River, South Carolina, without the monsignor title, and as the pastor emeritus at St. Mark’s in Catonsville, where five other priests have also faced allegations. In 2007, he was still living in South Carolina, but he was not listed in the 2009 directory. Father Ross LaPorta passed away on February 8, 2015.
